Is This Best At-Home Hair Color?

What is the best at-home hair color

Dear Yanira,

I love getting my hair colored, but I can't afford to go to the salon all the time. What is your recommended product for hair color, that has quality results but doesn't cost a fortune? S. Carlyle, Bloomington, IN.

I stopped coloring my hair the day I walked into a salon and was charged over $100 for a simple all over process that took her 30 minutes and was barely a good look. I felt robbed. Then I discovered Madison Reed.  After answering the online questions, I bit the bullet and ordered the color they recommended. It was the loveliest shade of chestnut and my hair had never looked that healthy after getting color done. Hands down, Madison Reed all the way.

Dear Yanira,

I have so many bags that I can't keep track anymore. I want to consolidate and have one go-to bag that will take me from work to evening. Any suggestions? L. Alonzo, Los Angeles, CA.

You can, but nothing bothers me more than see a beautiful after work outfit ruined by a big bulky bag. The best suggestion I could make, and one thing I do myself, is carry the one workbag I absolutely love. And in this amazing work bag, carry your essentials in a small clutch. That way, when Wine 0'Clock hits, you can just pull out your clutch and leave your work bag and work, at the office where it belongs!

Dear Yanira,

I wear a size 5 shoe and I have a really hard time finding my size. When I do find my size, they're often in the kid's section. What stores carry smaller sizes for adult women? C. Jacobson-Moreno, Austin, TX.

As I'm answering this, I'm looking down at my favorite spring pumps and thinking just how amazing my shoe collection is (despite it being small and practical). They are beautiful, extremely comfortable, soft leather, and for the quality, a great price. I bought them at Dune London and yes, they carry size 5. Enjoy!

Dear Yanira,

Are gel manicures bad for your nails? I hear so many conflicting opinions. E. Guerra, Jacksonville, FL.

The short answer: yes. Do I get them anyway? Sadly, yes, I have and if we are being honest, I am not sure I can say I will never get one again. Truth is, those UV lights the salons use are known to speed up the aging process and even worse, cause cancer. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation in a press release updated in 2015, the risk is fairly moderate, and preventable by applying SPF to your hands prior to your manicure.
